Hi there.
The long and short of it is, no, the game is regrettably no longer in active development. As such, my main concern was potentially misleading customers with a game that might not come out at all, which is why I decided to take the Steam page down (and hide the Itch page from my Itch profile as well).
I do want to come back to the project eventually (but not for a long while), but when/if I do, I will have to scale the project down and make a lot of changes, which was not reflected on the Steam page, either. This is why I didn't think it was a good idea to keep gathering wishlists for the game, since people would essentially be wishlisting a version of the game they will never receive.
I wrote an update about the state of the project a while back here on Itch, but I don't think it reached many people, so I understand you (and others) not knowing about it.
