A good start. Most things I'd say have already been addressed by others and yourself.
All I'll say is that the sound is a little repetitive. Some pitch shifting could probably help a bit.
Very impressive that you made a gameboy game though, this is the kind of stuff I always hope I get a bit of in the jam~ I'll check it out again if you continue work on it!~
