I obliterated the highscore getting 52,400 with 2nd place at 14,900 lol.
I understand why others scored much less though, the game was way too easy to the point of it getting boring very quick.
The main issue is that the difficulty curve is either too flat or it doesn’t exist. I didn’t notice it getting more difficult throughout my entire playthrough and I lost because I decided to just walk into an enemy intentionally.
Another issue is that the powerups feel totally pointless. They last for such a short amount of time which makes them useless with the enemy density as it is. Enemies don’t spawn frequently enough for the game to really pose a challenge so powerups aren’t needed.
The only time I got close to getting killed through normal gameplay was when I was walking upwards at full speed. Why? because the UI covers enemies coming from the top and you have to react quickly to avoid one coming out from under the UI.
I liked the concept of the game and the shooting and moving felt pretty good, even if simplistic. Increase the difficulty curve, rework the UI or make it transparent, soften the SFX as others have pointed out, and rethink how powerups work and you could turn this into a very fun score chaser.
