This update changed and added a few things with the engine, so what I think happened was that the save file might be incompatible with this version.
There's a couple of things we can do in this case. The easiest would be to select the "NEW GAME" option and start with a new save.
The other (not highly recommended) would be to press the Backspace key on the title screen to view the clear save screen. Once you're there, you will have to press the Backspace key once more to confirm (the screen will provide these instructions also) and the game will restart.
