You're going overboard with the meta stuff. All good things in measure.
Remember that you're still a real dev talking to real people, players and patrons, who might be worried seeing a dev losing the distinction between the reality of the marketplace and his fictional narrative.
Also, keep in mind that lying about a product, aka fraud, is a crime back here in reality. It's safest to keep the narrative in the game, or at the very least, off the storefront.
