The animation fbx files only include the skeleton. If you want to have the skeleton apply to the skel mesh drag chr_knight.fbx first and then and anim_... file.

from what i noticed is. at first i was opening maya and adding the rig.ma and then the wave.fbx it didnt work. but if i was to open maya by clicking the mesh then it loaded textured and the animations worked (after i imported them)!
also would this model be ok to use in commercial projects?

glad you got it to work! If you set the project to point to that folder it should load textures automatically too. You can use it commercially
