I sculpt characters in zbrush, then do retopology, texturing, rigging and animation in blender. I believe most game engines support animating in engine but I've never used it. I would recommend you stick to 2D if you're just getting started and then dabble with 3D if you feel like it. 3D has a lot of pitfalls and can be difficult to get to look the way you want it to.

thanks for the reply, again. I do 2d mostly now, but did 3d before, but yes i am mostly a beginner. Will dabble into that once i finished my first 2d game i guess but thanks for the information, will look into learning all that soon. was in the middle of making a human character in blender anyway.
