Are the saves from version 0.6? Have you tried starting a new game, saving to a new location/folder, and then loading that save? Have you tried launching the game in a different browser?
Itch-cave was an old error that was supposed to have been resolved 2 years ago, but I am curious if it still exists. I will look into some things for a better answer, but can you try those three things first?
Never played the game before, so... Must be the newest version ?
First, I tried via the itch.io website ''in-browser'' version (Firefox's latest version). Didn't work.
Then, I downloaded the game via the Itch desktop program, to see if it did the same thing. I just clicked the 'Install' button and said 'yes' to it. Started the game and made a save and tried to load it. I tried having the save located on my desktop, in the Itch folder, and in the game folder(inside Itch's game folder). Same result each time.
