I do not get it, what is the puzzle? it seems like I am always only allowed to move in the direction of the light sources and I always have enough 'moves' in the direction I need to go in

Later in the game the light will expand with a timer, and then you gonna need a shield to cross through enemies. And then… you will awake something ;).
No need to play that much to find this, it’s very early in the game.
