Was the first jam for me, but not for the rest of my team.
It was awesome to meet with new people and make a full game.
It was also my first time releasing a game with other people.
What I learned:
- It's okay to take programming shortcuts in a jam. Not all code has to be perfectly structured.
- Working in a team is a good opportunity to focus on certain aspects of a game, while having other people focusing on other parts of the game.
When I make short prototypes, I usually either focus really hard on one aspect of the game to work on one of the skills I want to improve or try to make something simple so I can have something decent in the end, but end up not really learning anything.
Working in a team was an awesome opportunity to sharpen my skills and learn a lot of cool stuff while having a satisfying end product. - I have learned a lot on how to code and how not to code when someone else works on the same project.
- I have learned how to design music with Wwise and integrate dynamic music into Unity. I would have never integrated music in a prototype, and even less dynamic music, but like I said in my second point, working in a team was a good opportunity to work on things that are not programming or game design/things that I think less about when I say I want to make a small game.
