I must admit that it's been a long time since I've worked on this game (it was my first one!), but after opening it up again I was able to remind myself. Getting past Gear is a tricky one where in you must destroy each of the blue "generators" over the course of the world. Most of the generators in Gear flow with that purple energy, but there are five where they flow with blue energy instead. You can destroy them be causing them to get hit with a bullet or explosion.
