Open Late Games was extremely fortunate to have a successful Kickstarter that was able to fund the original Speakeasy game, which allowed us to offer features like CGs and some MC customization. With that funding, we were also able to release the game to players at a much lower price than would have been possible otherwise. Indies have a pretty special relationship with the players because often the more support that's received while crowdfunding, the more we can offer in turn.
Open Late Games hires artists and programmers who are not part of the studio. To provide fair wages for their work, it takes a lot of balancing to stay in budget and make sure the game can still be offered at a reasonable price to players. Speakeasy: Last Call was developed without any additional crowdfunding, only relying on the awesome support of Patreon members to help finance the creation of new sprite artwork and hiring skilled programmers. I'm proud of what we were able to accomplish and it was a fun journey writing the final stories for Silas, Will, Dahlia, Milo, Maxim, Nika, Vincent, and little Momo.
And thanks for the bug report! I'll look into it for the upcoming patch for any bugs that are found.
