Hey. Figured this out by checking mods documentation. For linux, placing the files in...~/.config/unity3d/Freehold Games/CavesOfQud/Mods/PetsPack1...worked.
ah yeah, sorry, it's a known issue on some machines, I'll get it sorted this week!
