nevermind. The secret event is actually very well hinted. I was under the impression there were two secret events, but both secret births are tied to one.
after looking in the games code i found that its on the second floor of the dungeon south of the red chest on the bottom right corner of the L shaped corridor press space to start a dialogue. this is the most cryptic thing i've seen since Soul Reaver and the card masters from final fantasy 9
