DevLog 2,

Hello everyone,

It has been a few days and because classes have started, I have not been able to work on this project as much as I would have liked, but the game play mechanic I have chosen it to stick to cards only for now.  Implementing interesting and relevant rules to two different 'sources' as a beginner was a little overwhelming when it came to how to balance so that one source is not more preferred than another.  So far, there are 2 different types of cards thought out; one will be player cards and the other event cards.  Player cards are cards that the player will be able to use to interact with one another, whether by giving oneself an advantage or to hinder the opposing players.  The other type of cards will be event cards, where, at the current moment of thought, every round (after every player has had a turn) an event card is flipped over, affecting the players based on what is on it.  Event cards can be simple or dramatic, and will always reduce all player resources, signifying passing of the day.

The other portion of this game will be resource management, with three main resources; food, water, and wood.  All three resources are necessary for one survival, as having 0 of any resource for too long will result in a loss.  Food and water are fairly self explanatory survival resource, allowing players to stave off hunger and thirst.  Wood will be a very important resource, as some player cards will also require the use of wood (creation of tools, etc) as well as being a source for fire/warmth.

Hopefully I was able to convey clearly my vision for this game and if anyone has any suggestions on how to improve my idea, or any ideas for cards, it would be appreciated.

Thank You,

D.KB
