well if you're careful about it you could get enough supplies to be able to make it if you don't take the detour. so the first reason doesn't really apply.

Because the second time around, there's no artifact to compel you. Plus you've already seen what the reflection is, so no curiosity pulling you that direction either. Or at least less.

oh, i didn't know the artifact isn't there the second time around, since i always skipped it on the second loop lol

Even if you do explore it on the second loop (after which you can make it to the door anyway, because of some stat bonuses among other things) it explicitly tells you something about the journey too
(Not worth it for you, but not spoiling for anyone who reads comments before getting to that point)

In general, my intention is to remove any action which is 'meaningless' on later loops. So if you can see an action, there's almost certainly going to be some form of story or gameplay benefit to doing it.
