I think this could be solved with a sort of ‘sandbox mode’ that allows you to create nations exactly as you imagined. Because I think some of the fun of the game is that sometimes your favorite nations get absolutely walloped and then you get to rebuild them

Yes That would be a good solution, I think it could help a lot!

for real. some of the fun in the game is definitely loosing the nations you root for, but it really does get tiring when every nation is being split up over and over again that your entire map just becomes ugly and unplayable and you cant rebuild since theyll just split again
