You have to build the stellar drive and use it to warp to new locations. You can find the material for it in the asteroids around the starting planet.
is it a necessity or can I Theoretically go anyway? (just SLOW)
Yeah, it's technically possible to reach other planets without warp. You'll have to accelerate to insane speeds and keep enough fuel to decelerate once there... I think it would take forever 😅
