As for getting in your own way - clone management is a weird skill. Often it pays to hard reset and start over when you mess up one/two clone pathings. Also since the clone movement isn't 100% reliable, it is a good idea to not do "pixel perfect" jumps and such - it increases the likelihood of the clone doing something really weird. That part is not intentional though and would have to be polished. It is a byproduct of the way that the looping mechanics was implemented - and which will probably need to be revisited.
