Loved how unserious you were about what can be a beyblade. The first boss made me think it was almost a battlebot, the second told me what you really meant with the first one and I felt nothing but admiration. I could use 4 more of those easily.
Also greatly appreciated how you didn't lock the shield between picking energy bars on the stage, or the strong attack behind a stamina bar. You want the player to have fun and let them have their toys, I enjoyed myself to the max thanks to that. Charging up the attack to hit and activate the shield at the exact moment is pretty fun, a small reflex test incorporated into a simple gameplay, both in that and the QTE against the cowboy, lovable. It's not the same, but the lumberjack taking down the dam was also a fun characterization for the battle/boss gimmick.
I totally could write something for these two. Probably wouldn't for a second address why they turned into beyblades, but would totally write who they are for 10 pages.
The best of the beyblade games I've played so far, if the jam had that category, I'd bet on your win easily.
