I encountered a bug with the jewellery box. The different symbols aren't visible at all, all I can see is three black, empty round displays. The buttons work, though, so I was able to navigate it blindly with the help of a youtube tutorial.
When the box opened, the key was not visible for me either, but I was able to click the area to gather the key anyway.
Same with the first key in the lobby, the one on the small table next to the entrance. Invisible, but possible to pick up and use anyway.
I'm on MacOS 10.15.7, and I tried playing the game on three different websites, using the Firefox browser. Same result in all three.

I see the problem. It seems that items in png files are not loaded or refuse to be displayed. This is the first time I've heard of this problem. Unfortunately, I would not be able to make the link between this bug and MacOS 10.15.7. Sorry Cactus, this game is almost 4 years old now, it was my very first, and it remains imperfect in certain very specific cases that I have never been able to determine. I don't know how to help you.
