I might be looking into it way too deeply, but how far was the effects of the spell that Eric casted onto the Main Character at the start? The game does repeatedly discuss love spells/potions. Where Eric states that due to the spell, it is why various events have changed, where a student lost something, to the Main Character even becoming the school's Champion. Does that at all imply that the psychology of the students was affected. In capacity? I'd assume not. As Elisabeth states that one of the Professors "compliments" the main character, yet sees them as lost potential. So seemingly that might be evidence that it didn't really effect anything else. Only the circumstances of what has happened to aid the Main Character. Another interesting thing to note is that seemingly, the spell casted by Eric also made some sort of ward around the Main Character, where other similar spells cannot affect him. (Tho' the demo ended right after, so not sure there if there may've been additional dialogue I missed out on.)
It does of course raise some interesting implications and questions. My main one being:

Will the love spell casted by Eric be further explored? Or is its purpose to act as a plot device to get the plot flowing and stopping right there?

It will be explored a bit more in a couple of story threads, but not very deeply. The bottom line is, that the spell does not affect any person or the events in particular, it just helps the MC by slightly rearranging the situation around him to help him get his act together and giving him more opportunities to capitalize on. And also, in a way, you as a player act as a proxy for the spell. Helping him achieve things he would not normally be able to.
