Absolutely, stunningly, fantastic story! I was hooked from beginning to end, delighted in places, utterly horrified in others, but had a hell of a time the whole way through.
I really enjoyed that there were so many different layers to the horror elements, all balanced so well - from the underlying "This is a cult, right?" discomfort, to the claustrophobic feeling of being isolated within your own community just for being 'different', to the much more visceral, brutal stuff and the secrets revealed along the way, it was all measured exceptionally well, landing hard without ever feeling excessive.
The whole cast was well-written, but the 'villains' in particular really stood out to me - I absolutely loathed them by the end, but they never at any point felt cartoonishly evil. They felt utterly real and believable; people like that really do exist, and that only made them even worse.
Saying I "enjoyed" it is probably not quite the right word, given... you know, everything... but I was gripped by it, and whenever I took a break I couldn't wait to come back and find out what happens next. Loved it all the way through - you did an amazing job with this!
