You have to manage the plant needs : hunger (by providing chickens) and thirst (by providing water)
When the satiety meter stay 5 seconds on top, the plant grows and also its needs.
The thirst meter needs to be at center to keep the plant healthy and provide the best pollen production.
When the game start, I suggest you by a food transporter (a dog) to rapidly reach level 2 or 3.
Then, you will have to buy more water transporters, augment food transport capacity and buy speed upgrades to tune precisely water providing.
