The text that appears at the beginning tells you to throw the coins in the trash and the small slit for the coins to go into is pretty self-explanatory. There should have been a timer at the top of the screen and right above the timer should be text that says "Garbage: [amount collected]". I forgot to set the canvas in Unity to scale with screen size so if you have a monitor that is smaller than 1920x1080 you probably didn't see the timer or the garbage counter and the UI probably looked weird. This issue has been fixed. The player getting slower with more coins is something I tried to fine tune so that you can collect a lot of coins at a time but only to a certain degree, otherwise the game would be too easy.
