Regarding WASD vs the arrow keys they are handled/programmed the same way in the game, so even if there is a difference I unfortunately wouldn't be able to change it.

I just tried it on my laptop and the arrow keys feel better to use there. So I think it was just a problem with my desktop keyboard's key bindings.
