So since you took the time to make such a well rounded and most impact full critique on many games, questioning their adherence to theme, I take my time to comment on yours as well in my standard fashion.
Summary:
Adherence to Theme
- You are packing your clothing. The core mechanic of your game has the word pack in it, in the most basic way I could think of., but it's there. I fail to see how this differs much in terms of adherence to theme to mine, at all (apart from our game having a more clever word play in it.)
- Check out the entry called "The Morning Rush" , which uses the same setting but more originally.
Game Design
- The controls where very sloppy, camera movement seems to be hard coded in terms of sensitivity to your mouse, which is a bad thing. I suggest looking up basic First Person Input videos first... (Not just from Backey's the hackey's.)
- You can Jump in your game, there are light switches that can (for some unknown reasons) only be reached by jumping. From what I found, there is no way to toggle the light switched nor is there any reason why you should be able to Jump at all, it has no Gameplay implications. The time you put into coding that could've been relocated towards more meaningful mechanics. (Since you borrowed so much from Slender, maybe a simple sprint with a stamina bar.)
- Since your running speed is incredibly high, I found it hard to control the game. As mentioned before, a sprint mechanic would help contain the movement a bit, or tweak some values.
- You got some things right though. I feel the Level Layout is quite enjoyable for a horror experience, even if your structure could use a bit of refinement.
Originality
- Highly inspired by Slenderman Gameplay (also used sounds from that game and Textures from Minecraft)
- I gave extra points for being of a school setting, where you have to find your clothes, which I thought quite funny, although there is much room for creative improvement. (Again look at games like these for inspiration.)
Style
It's a 3D jam game so I oversee some flaws in graphics, however,...
- The Fonts and Colors are very hard to look at / read.
- The graphics are super glitch-y when you are close to walls.
- It hurts itself being this dark , I know, it's the easiest way to make a game scary but I can think of many ways this game would've been better without being this dark or even a horror game.
- The sounds where highly unpleasant, and not in a good way. Very loud and obnoxious.
