Did you waited a few minutes with this black screen ? I had a similar thought until i saw a tiny light in the middle of the screen
Yeah, my monitors go to power saving mode and alt tab, alt f4, any other commands don't work. It's like it shuts down my graphics card or something and the only way to get things back and working is to reboot.
