Pros:
- The comic book artstyle was cool!
- The post processing effects and screenshake gave some great OOMF to the game; the first hit of breaking that wall feels so nice and crunchy!
- I really liked the music too (did you make that as well? was quite nice)
To improve:
- As some people have mentioned, the controls are a bit hard to get used to, and while I agree, I think the bigger issue is the camera placement. It would be better if the camera panned further in front of you so you could see upcoming enemies sooner. I feel if you could see further up it would give a nicer flow to the game and remove a bit of frustration (it was frustrating when I died from jumping onto spikes/enemies that I couldnt see when I had started the jump; but it was cool when I knew what was coming and was able to execute it all as i wanted to, sort of like Super Meat Boy).
- Add some 'coyote time' to jumps; this is one of those things which maybe is hard to fit in during a game-jam, but which always helps any platformer. (Coyote time is the term used for platformers where there is a bit of extra invisible room for jumping after a player runs off a ledge; i.e. if you go of a ledge and press jump almost immediately its better for the player to jump even if they weren't TECHNICALLY on the ground than to fall to their death).
- Dont allow necessary objects to be destroyed. The walls are fun to break due to the screenshake, sounds and particle effects, but, you shouldn't make them destroyable if you need them to jump on to proceed. This happened a couple of times where i had to kill myself in order to try again because I had destroyed the wall.
- Rewinding was spelled wrong :P
Overall:
I quite enjoyed this game (I played it to the end, which I haven't been able to do for all the games I've reviewed so far)!
