Could you open inspect element and go to the console? I'm not able to reproduce this in any way, so it sounds like a case of the browser not having access to your local storage, which prevents images from loading in.
After much experimentation, I have found the solution. It appears that all the folders with the images were supposed to be in a folder called 'images'. they were not in my case. no idea why.
no idea man. weird things of the internet, cause clearly other people arent experiencing this. Who knows, we have it figured out now, and if it happens again, you know what to do.
