I've updated the game and double the animation speed for the shoot mecanics, you're right it give a much better feel to the game. You should try it again see if feels better for you too.
I had the dash in my backlog, but decided to give up this mecanics for the scope of the game jam, but if I decided to continue this game afterward, I would much definitively add it.
