Oh, can you switch songs? If it's something to do with cheat codes, I wasn't able to figure how to use it in the menu. Maybe that's why the game seemed hard to me.
as you progress in the game the NPC will teach you the songs. The first one scares them away from you, the second attracts them to you, and the third stuns them in place
