Hey there, I'm honestly very interested in your pixel art, but I honestly can't use them with the license you currently have it under. As I understand it, if I wanted to use these assets in a commercial game, or any kind of game really, its a grey area that the source code for said game must also be distributed in a similar way due to the share alike license, and the wording of said license (which honestly sucks but it can indeed be interpreted that way, so many people avoid CC-BY-SA assets for serious projects, since they want to keep their source code).

Do you have any intention of possibly selling your assets under a different license, like CC0, even if you charge a bit more for it? Or maybe you can sell some of this asset in a separate CC0 licensed bundle?

Hi smartguy,
with this license you can use the stuff in commercial projects and modify it in any way, the only thing is to credit me somewhere. Your question was about sharing the source code that would also contain my asset? I didn't really get it, I'm sorry :(

Since there seems to be some confusion, I hope you don't mind me chiming in.

LimeZu is selling the assets under the CC-BY license, which allows you to use the assets (for either free or commercial projects) as long as you credit them.

The license you're talking about is CC-BY-SA, which also allows you to use the assets for your projects as long as they're credited. BUT there is another term added called ShareAlike, which means you need to distribute your creation/product under the same license. This is what you mean by sharing the source code right?

In summary, LimeZu's assets are under CC-BY, not CC-BY-SA, so you don't need to share your code :)

Ahh thank you Nory, I guess you hit the spot!

Well its a bit confusing since the "information" section says "CC-BY_SA 4.0 International, but it also says above if you pay above a certain amount its CC-BY 4.0. So Does the license change by paying? Or is the information tab incorrect?

And yes that's exactly what I mean, under a CC-BY- SA license the source code would most likely also have to be freely made available. But under a CC-BY it wouldn't.

Maybe the licensing section of this asset should be updated to make this more clear, it still says CC-BY-SA 4.0, not CC-BY.

Hi guys, I've just updated the license in the information section!
The previous one was a default option, I've never selected it to be CC-BY-SA!

Thank you! And thank you again for your great pixel art, I never regret having bought it, although I have no idea yet what I will do with it😁

Ahahah you are welcome! ;)

Thanks! Appreciated! I definitely like your work, hope you make more! :)

You are welcome!

I’m gonna do more for sure  ;)
