the old engines were horrible. the newest is very nice but still sloppy when compared to unity or renpy for building a game like this.

its much easier to already have a base to start from than it is to build from scratch and is unreal's only strong point.

Many people use Unreal because 95% of everything is already done and there. Its noob trash for noob devs to make their noob games with it. You cant even say they actually made anything with a straight face because the majority was already done for them.

Its open source and largely just an entry level game engine or code. Only noobs continue using it.
