My take on the whole “Death as a core mechanic” was that it didn’t have to be the player dying - just something. So when enemies die, you warp to their location, and the finality of death is present because you can only use each enemy once - cause they’re dead after the fact. I’d say enemy death is a core mechanic because you have to carefully choose when each enemy dies and it is your only way of traversing most levels.

yeah that's fair enough i was just more thinking of player death comparing it to the other games and my own
