Nice first game jam game! My only question is: if you tell people that taking items makes them weaker, why would they need to take them? Perhaps if you blocked the item room's door and forced the player to choose one before they could leave, then that would make more sense. Overall, good job! I definitely recommend going back and flesh this out some more!
