Sorry for the late reply my dude. If you still need the hint, walk onto the bones in the kids' cave to obtain an item that will allow you to get past the dog.
That's what I tried the first time, but I couldn't find any bones I can pick up in the cave (circled over the fossil and spammed Z). I'll look around the cave one more time.
