A nice concept, I would recommend coyote time for your future platformers, as it would help out a lot.

I did want to add it, but wasn't quite sure how. Definitely something to look into though!

Yea, it may be hard to do in a game jam (I don't know what engine you are using), so a loophole to doing that is adding double jump, like I did in my game. Welcome to game dev, the more lazy you can be the better.
