Ayy, beat this one. Pretty entertaining top down shooter. It's a bit too long however. The length wouldn't have been a problem if new mechanics had been introduced throughout the runtime, but since it was just moving and shooting the whole time, it would have been better if it were shorter. You introduced new enemies and a new gun throughout, but functionally, they were the same.

I noticed there's a vision aspect where areas behind blocks are in shadow, but you can still see enemies that are behind things, so I don't see the point. Were enemies outside your vision originally going to be hidden? Also, I don't see why you couldn't reload without emptying your clip first. That would have made for an interesting mechanic if there were limited ammo, but with infinite ammo it just meant I needed to empty my gun before each encounter.

The movement was pretty nice. I felt the speed of right click was good for traversing the environment and boosters were good for evading enemies, so I got use out of both movement mechanics. There was also one part where you could fit through a gap by pointing your mouse one way and boosting which was pretty interesting. Would have liked to see that used more often.

I wish the story had a bit more explained. From what I could tell I believe the aliens we were killing were actually our crewmates? Was it because our character was going insane or was it because of some outside alien influence that they shapeshifted and became hostile? Did our character know they were their crewmates going into the game or was it a surprise to them too?

There is the beginning of something pretty great here. Would love to see if you continue it after the jam. Good game. Thanks for making it!

thanks for the detailed review!

If I do continue developing this I will definitely take a lot of your feedback into consideration, as I agree with everything you say but we either didn't think of it or ran out of time.

And you are correct about the story, but we never really thought of why it's happening and just left it to the player to imagine, but I will try to elaborate on the story if I continue to work on this.

But still thank you for playing and completing our game!
