I was expecting AE to mean Atomic Energy and the intro made me think of Comrade Dyatlov for some reason. With that out of the way...
I loved the gameplay concept, light arcade makes perfect sense to describe it. Reminded me a bit of Bomberman. I do wish the trap sections were a little easier- insta-kill, exact number of traps, and tight timing make it feel really unforgiving. Personally I found it hard to tell what square things were in and how to time things, but that's probably more me than the game. The relatively short segments and infinite retries make it tolerable, though, and I think most people won't have as much trouble as I did.
The survive part feels like it wasn't tweaked as well as the other sections. It's still a good concept but really has some issues. The hitboxes are weird and the shots don't line up with the boxes you can move into. It's also not immediately clear who you will switch to next. Eventually I just stayed in square 4 because it was clear what drop comes into it.
I have mixed feelings about the narrative sections. The graphics are really cute, but I sometimes found myself quickly skipping through them. The intro I especially found overstayed its welcome. Overall, though, I think more of the story beats land than miss and the ending is especially good.
In terms of presentation it's clearly going for cute and it does that very well. I'm not sure if the magical girl designs here are my thing, but they are very well done.
