You will NEVER be a great writer until you learn to accept criticism without acting like an angry, horny little child and do some personal reflection.
You are not required to change anything about your writing, but if all you ever do when someone challenges your work is throw a fit, you're always going to be an amateur. Hope this is nothing more than a hobby for you, because it's not going to be a career. Promise you.
The only one throwing a fit is you. You don't need to like the story aspects of the game. You can treat it like simple porn all you want. I share the same opinion with you that I tend to skip over the elf story stuff. However, Runey is trying to make a game that stands out from the average porn game, with unique story lines for each character and interesting world building. Based on a poll that Runey held, the vast majority of players enjoy the story elements of the game.
Just because Runey doesn't want to adhere to YOUR suggestions, it does not mean they're unable to accept criticism. This game wouldn't reach the point it's at today if it weren't for all the criticism that players have given it over the years.
The MST3K mantra has a problem: it basically tells you to take a work that could potentially be the object of advanced sociopolitical commentary and turn it into me like boobs.
Now, if the original work is at the level of me like boobs, that is fine and dandy. If the original work is trying to spark sociopolitical commentary, however, that is less fine and not quite as dandy.
Not arguing for the OP's position, mind, I'm just saying that you should only use the MST3k mantra if you think that the work is "me like boobs" level .
