Hey, thanks for your comment! What you describe is actually not a bug, but an admittedly pretty poorly communicated feature. When the food is on the "other side" of the strip (of course, a Möbius strip only has one side, but it looks like it has two), you can't pick it up. There's actually a color difference between the two locations, but it's very subtle when post-processing ist enabled. To pick up your food, just travel along the strip until you reach its actual position.
