According to a comment about a day ago here, the devs supposedly said on Discord that the itch.io version of the game is no longer being supported. Haven't seen any official source for that myself, but given the existence of an error saying that, it would seem logical that they would only put an "unsupported version" message into the code if they intended to stop supporting something.

I've contacted them using the email address I was given by the itch.io support page (us@innersloth.com). That got an automated "we've received your message" reply straight away, but it's been almost 4 days since I sent the message without a reply yet.

I've seen mention of a different email address being used by support (support@innersloth.com) in the comments here as well, and have re-sent my email to that address today. Hopefully one of these messages will get a response soon.

I KNOW  HOW TO FIX IT DUDE. Every Itch download comes with a Steam key. Go to download Among Us, get the steam key, install steam if you haven't already, put in the key, and hit play.

Unless you have reason not to use Steam (which there are a few reasons for, incluing it having been a known health hazard for some people for a year and a half now). That doesn't "fix" it, it provides a (bad) workaround.

How the hell is Steam a Health Hazard.

It's triggering migraines, epilepsy, vertigo and some other conditions for people ever since the big revamp of the UI in late 2019. In spite of knowing it's a problem since a few days after the update, the only thing Valve has done which relates to the problem has been to block access to the only safe workaround that existed.

Where the hell did you get that from. Give me a link.
