Very polished and good looking game, nothing big to report. There are some things that might be a good idea to look at to make the game much more fun:

  • the idea of only allowing one fly to be eaten per jump puts a cap on the speed at which the hunger can go up. If you allow multiple flies to be eaten, it will make it easier at the start, but also prolong any "endgame" you might have,
  • Multiple flies at once could be used for a multiplier or combo meter. I've added combos to my game last minute and it was a very good change, made for some actual strategy, even though the game is very simple,
  • The very random movement of flies is pleasing to look at, but makes for some misses that aren't the fault of the player. It's ok to make a game hard, but it has to be fair - this isn't,
  • Overall there's not much to do after a minute. Different lilly pad colors might signify special bonuses or danger, would require more focus on the bottom part of the screen (which can be bad if overdone, but I found myself finding where to land pretty easy without looking),
  • Multiple fly variations or some that should be avoided can also spice up the game,

In general, the base is very solid, just needs expanding. A couple game types (or difficulty levels) could be a nice touch.

Definitely a scoreboard would make for a much more competitive game, though for that you need to bring the skill ceiling much higher - so the "pro strats" are possible to discover.

I'll take my game as an example. During playtesting with the new combo system, I noticed that while on earlier waves it's good to take things slow and get the multiplier up (it requires you to not miss a shot), but once the stinger come flying, the target priotization is the most important - taking care of the most dangerous enemies first means a difference between a new record or just a good score.

If this all sounds negative - it's not, this is a VERY well made game with enough flair to stand next to any jam game and with the 72h constraint it's obvious that all of the things I listed aren't possible. This is an amazing example of a jam game, I'm throwing some ideas in to maybe help a bit ^^
