It is a great game! Some feedback:

  • The machine gun enemies feel overpowered in melee. The enemies are just as quick as the player, so there's no way you can run from MP enemies - and, therefore, die. It is especially true on the Zeus level, where after 6 floors you face a demigod enemy with a machine gun in a small room.
  • Obviously, the graphics are poor. However, everything is clear and I barely had any moments when I got lost.
  • I liked the dialogue animations
  • The philosophic gray line is amazing. It conveys some wise message through a small game, which is worthy of respect

Overall, super creative! Definitely a notable submission.

I am planning on fixing the MP enemies as well as a few gameplay improvements after the jam is done (skipping boss cutscenes).

Graphics have never really been my strong suit, I've just accepted that and focus more on the gameplay / story aspect. If any of my games do well enough, I may find an artist and revisit it.

I'm glad you enjoyed the philosophic stuff, I wasn't sure how people would respond to it. I took a lot of inspiration from CS Luis and I think it really works in the context of the game.
