Dont Shoot The Enemy Ups and Downs

Ups:

  • The lighting effects are appealing
  • The music rocks
  • The concept is pretty good for the theme, considering your team essentially took a common feature of top down shooters (shooting enemies) and made it a weakness to the player

Downs:

  • The WebGL build will not load. The progress bar reaches about 90% then stops. I've had this issue when uploading a Unity WebGL game to itch.io, and I solved it by just changing the compression forrmat to GZip. If you are unsure of how to do this, check out this itch.io forum https://itch.io/t/912627/unity-webgl-game-wont-fully-load
  • While the concept is interesting, it just doesn't work too well. Since the enemies dies naturally overtime and there doesn't seem to be any bonus to the player for shooting lights,, there is no point to shooting the lights at all. A suggestion that I think could improve this is that the enemies could die quicker if they are NEAR the light or something like that
  • Sometimes an enemy would spawn right on top of me, which felt kind of unfair

Overall, a solid entry.

Hi Blue Giant! thank you for the feedback. We were down one programmer mid-jam and had to rush it in the end. This was definitely a learning experience for the next time.
