Well, I hadn't if you could tell me the names of a few of those games you're thinking of so I can see how similar they are that would be helpful  :S

Regardless, even if it's been done before that doesn't necessarily make it conventional -however, if it's been done a lot then I suppose after a point it becomes conventional lol well, I tried to be unconventional with a platforming game but, that said, I was running out of jam time and had to scope down (shocking right xD)  which is why there wasn't a lot of block variety.

Originally I was wanting to make the blocks a little more like tower defense like  with them shooting the players through the levels but was having too many bugs with that so all that will have to wait til after the jam is over.  Anyway thank you for your kind words!!  :D

It particularly reminded me of Mario vs. Donkey Kong. Admittedly that's the only game/series that comes to mind right now, and I'd consider it more of a puzzle game than a platformer, but I'd probably say the same of this (since there's no direct control of any character). I don't really see this as an unconventional platformer, but more as a puzzle game that happens to take place in a platforming engine, if that makes any sense. If you had guns shooting the players along or something, that would've felt more like an unconventional use of an object to me.

Ooof -yeah I looked at the mario vs donkey kong series and saw they had a few of them with the minis that were like that -still wouldn't say it's common enough to not be a least a bit unconventional but I look forward to taking this one further anyway

I'll definitely play the game again when you update it because it was pretty fun
