This was an interesting game. It had a surprising amount of depth into it (haha). I like the sense of exploration in a way that you don't know what's ahead of you as you venture further down. The gameplay was fine but could've used some refinement.
Some tips:
- Give the user time to stop and read instructions. The starting screen about controls automatically goes away in a few seconds so the first time I had to exit the game and come back to it. The same issue comes across in the mini-game about memorizing patterns. On first time I was just looking at the patterns thinking what is this, and only after realized it was a memory game.
- The memory game had 2 similar shaped symbols (the big and little 'O'). Be vary of doing something like this.
- The goal of the game isn't obvious. At first I was trying to catch fish, but couldn't. Then I was trying to catch the glowy things but ended up chasing them as they all swam away. Only at some point I noticed the separate lure button.
- After the memorization mini-game you had to go towards the target. I didn't get this at all. Was it another mini-game? I pressed towards the creature but the vessel didn't move. In the end the mini-game stopped and I had caught the creature. I don't know what happened.
All in all great job for a game jam. I see you ended up submitting 4 minutes before the deadline haha. So maybe you just didn't have time to refine some of the things.
