Yeah, those things will be explained more (and look better) as we overhaul the battle UI, but basically, those red words are indicating your status effects - including the status effects that come naturally from having low health and stamina, and high lust. If you highlight over your character's portrait, a window will pop up with your current stat changes. Winded, for instance, means you have low stamina, which lowers your STR and AGI.
