An arcade card game is a good, but risky idea. You didn’t put anything to show the card deck to the player, and the cards are of three types. On this way, it seems the game seems random and forced (like: it doesn’t make sense to heal if you can heal only 1 and you can deal 3 turn on the enemy), in fact using the red character I managed to get to the final boss only with spamming attack and powering up my attacks or full healing when needed. You should rebalance the whole game for making it better and adding real strategies for the player. How about having attack, heal, defend (setted by the main character at the beginning) and a option to power up the stats, for example? Tell me if this was a good idea or not. I liked the game, but it should be rebalanced better, otherwise it can be breaked as I did before.

Yes! Definitely need to rebalance the whole thing. It was kind of a last minute realization for me too while I was testing it with friends. And as you said, the feeling is a bit forced because of the lack of UI, something I knew I needed to do, but was scoped out for since it was so close to the deadline. (I'm not great at pixel art, and this was actually also one of the first times I've done it myself)

I think the idea of having stats is interesting and I could see how it would work. So definitely not a bad idea! I think the game would need to be a lot bigger, though, for that to work. If I made another card battler, that's something for me to keep in mind because I can see how intriguing it is.

For a next game you could add new unlockable characters and making endless fights until you lose. Every character can have something special and you hope to do the best :D It’s a great idea and I can’t wait for the sequel now :D
